A USB Is All You Need

The International Consumer Electronics Show Highlights Latest Gadgets

Every reliable Geek worth his weight in gadgets carries around a USB flash drive, at least for transferring files to other computer. If you don't, perhaps you should. My personal favorite use of a Flash drive is to set up all your social and technical applications for portable use. This guide will show you a quick and easy way to utilize your portable media

First, you will need a USB drive. (Duh) The more space, the better, but there really is no reason to buy a 128 gigabyte drive. That's a little two much space, but it's your call. I personally use a 2gig Sandisk Cruzer Micro, and it does all I need it too.

Next, we're going to install a kind of User Interface for your drive. This software is called PortableApps. It will house all your applications and display them when your drive is inserted into a computer. The good thing about this program is that it is free, quite powerful, and has many applications that are supported. Another example of great open-source programming. Go to www.portableapps.com to get this program. You can choose to just download the software, download a light version of the full suite, and the full suite. You'll just have to decide which one you want. If you get the full suite, you'll save some time, but you won't specifically pick out which apps you want.

Well, that's pretty much it. Told you it was quick and easy. Well, If you have any unawnsered question, leave a comment and I'll get back to you. See ya next time!
